Tofino Camping Adventure
May Long Weekend – 3 Days / 2 Nights (May 16 – May 18)
Join the VanHikers community for an unforgettable long weekend adventure to Tofino — one of the most beautiful destinations in British Columbia.
This trip will combine hiking, surfing, camping, ocean views, and great community energy. Tofino is known for its wild coastline, rainforest trails, and incredible sunsets.
We will travel together, camp together, explore together, and create amazing memories over the long weekend.

Trip Details
Dates: May 16 – May 18 (May Long Weekend)
Duration: 3 Days / 2 Nights
Location: Tofino, Vancouver Island
Day 1 – Journey & Hiking
We will travel from Vancouver early in the morning and take the ferry to Vancouver Island.
After reaching Tofino, we will explore some beautiful coastal rainforest trails and viewpoints in the area.
Later in the evening we will arrive at the campground, set up tents, relax, and enjoy the sunset.
Day 2 – Surf & Explore
Day two will be focused on experiencing Tofino’s famous surfing beaches.
Participants who want to try surfing can rent boards and wetsuits from local rental shops.
Surf rentals are not included in the trip cost, but we will organize group rentals so the cost becomes much more affordable.
Even if you don’t surf, you can still enjoy:
• Walking the beach
• Watching surfers
• Exploring the coastline
• Relaxing by the ocean
In the evening we will return to the campsite and enjoy a relaxed night with the group.
Day 3 – Morning Hike & Return
On the final day we will pack up the campsite and explore one or two more scenic trails on our way back before returning to Vancouver.
We will take the ferry back in the evening.
Cost
Trip Cost: $150 per person
This cost includes:
• Ferry transportation
• Gas / travel costs
• Campground reservation
Surf rentals are not included, but we will organize group rentals (2 people per board) to reduce the cost for everyone.
VanHikers does not operate for profit — all contributions go toward covering shared trip expenses.
Camping & Sleeping Arrangements
Participants are welcome to bring their own tents.
If you do not have a tent, the organizer will provide two large shared tents.
Sleeping arrangement will be:
• One tent for women
• One tent for men
Everyone must bring:
• Sleeping bag
• Sleeping pad or air mattress
Meetup & Transportation
After purchasing a ticket, you will be added to a WhatsApp group where all details will be shared including:
• exact meetup location
• departure time
• travel coordination
• camping details
What to Bring (Important)
Camping gear:
• Sleeping bag
• Sleeping pad / air mattress
• Tent (optional)
Clothing:
• Waterproof jacket
• Warm layers
• Extra clothes
• Comfortable hiking shoes
Other items:
• Water bottle
• Snacks / food
• Personal hygiene items
• Headlamp / flashlight
• Beach towel (for surfing)
And most importantly:
Positive energy 🙂
Group Rules (Safety + Respect)
• Stay respectful and supportive to everyone
• Follow group timings and instructions
• No drugs during the trip
• Alcohol only allowed responsibly at the campsite
• Help keep the campsite clean
• Respect nature and leave no trace
This is a community trip, and we want everyone to enjoy the experience safely.

You voluntarily choose to participate and assume full responsibility for your own safety, health, fitness, equipment, and decisions before, during, and after the trip.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree that VanHikers, the organizer, volunteer leaders, and drivers are not responsible for any injury, loss, damage, or accident that may occur during this trip.
If you do not agree with these terms, please do not join the event.
